Goldfrapp is an electronic music duo, formed in 1999 in London, England, and made up of Alison Goldfrapp (vocals, songwriter) and Will Gregory (songwriter, producer). Goldfrapp's musical style has changed over time, from a cinematic ambient sound, through electropop, glam rock influenced sound, folktronica to 80s synthpop.

The majority of the band's songs are composed by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, although they have collaborated with session musician Nick Batt several times.

Squirrel Nut Zippers are a big band/jazz/alternative rock band which formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States in 1993. They split in 2000 and reunited in 2007. They consist of Jim Mathus (vocals, guitar, trombone), Katharine Whalen (banjo, ukulele, vocals), Stuart Cole (bass), Je Widenhouse (cornet), Will Dawson (saxophone), Henry Westmoreland (saxophone) and Chris Phillips (drums). Former members of the band include Ken Mosher (guitar, saxophone), Stacy Guess (trumpet) and Tom Maxwell (guitar, saxophone, clarinet).

Franco Fontana

Franco Fontana is an Italian photographer born in Modena, Italy in 1933, best known for his abstract colour landscapes. Fontana's photos have been used as album cover art for records produced by the ECM jazz label.






Franco Fontana was above all interested in the interplay of colours and he explored different subjects: urban landscape, portraiture, fashion, still-life and the nude. He worked with 35 mm cameras, mostly on location claiming that his studio was the world.The later critics had labeled it as Photographic Trans-avantgarde.

He is known as the inventor of the photographic line referred to as concept of line He began working as an amateur photographer in 1961. His first personal exposition was in 1968 in Modena. Since then he has participated in more than 400 expositions - collective and personal - and his work is bought in approximately 60 museum collections all over the world.




Like Elias Canetti wrote what could be the motive of every artist: "Nobody resists without a borrowed life, our own is not enough". There are landscapes in the mind that surpass those that casually could happen in front of our eyes and they are superior. They are made of so many of those things that we do not even know where and when and how: a book we read, or a song, the memory of a person or the wish to forget, an instant moment or a long run of years, Fontana, with his brilliant simplicity (apparent simplicity, as matters from the mind and from the heart appear in a complicate way) registers this and meanwhile gives space by suggesting to enable us to fill in with our own memories.from our times, with all our own fantasmagoria as everyone of us makes.

He has been signed for numerous publicity campaigns, as FIAT, VOLKSWAGEN, National Railways, VOLVO, VERSACE, CANON, KODAK, SNAM, STET, MONDRIAN, J.WALKER, ALITALIA, SWISSAIR, LA RINASCENTE. He works with TIME-LIFE, VOGUE USA, VOGUE FRANCE, VENDERDI DI REPUBBLICA, PANORAMA, FRANKFURTER ALLGEMEINE, EPOCA and many more distinguished publications.      

Photography, writing with light is certainly still magic, one click leads through mysterious cemistry to develop and realize an image. But Fontana doesn't restrict himself to just the image, he transforms it to something else, probably curious about other people's life, about moments that are never his, panorama's presumable real but felt differently, dreams that were dreamt by other people somewhere one has not been.

His work has been published in more than 40 books in various editions in Italian, Japanese, French, German, Swiss, English and Spanish. His numerous awards include the 1989 Tokyo Photographer Society of Japan - The 150 Years of Photography - Photographer Award.

Bonobo

Simon Green was born and grew up in rural Hampshire, escaping to Brighton aged eighteen. There he fell into the jazz/hip hop/funk/soul scene centred around Rob Luis and nights like phonic:hoop. An accomplished musician as a teenager, he began producing his own tracks, pushing at the template established in the sweaty little venues studding the Lanes.

Green’s first release came on Luis’ label, Tru Thoughts, when his track “Terrapin” was included on the compilation “When Shapes Join Together” in 1999. His debut album, “Animal Magic” followed the next year, completely self-produced and largely self-played, too. Hailed as one of the “new downtempo pioneers,” Green found himself attracting the attention of other labels and eventually signed to Ninja Tune.

In 2003 he released his first album for the label, “Dial ‘M’ For Monkey.” This was a time when Green was also focussing heavily on his DJing, playing banging dancefloor sets of hip hop, funk and drum & bass up and down the country and across Europe, a period which reached its apogee with the release of the mix album “Solid Steel: It Came From The Sea.”

Over the last couple of years, Bonobo has become one of the premier artists on the Ninja Tune imprint and certainly one of the most listened to. His combination of superb live shows and studio wizardry means that he is now perfectly placed to push on into a yet bigger league. With “Black Sands,” Bonobo has made the record to achieve it.

Blonde Redhead

Blonde Redhead is an alternative rock band originating from New York City in the early 1990s. It was formed by Kazu Makino, Maki Takahashi and Milan-born Italian twin brothers Simone Pace and Amedeo Pace. They take their name from a song by DNA, a 70s and 80s no-wave band from New York. Blonde Redhead caught the attention of Sonic Youth’s drummer, Steve Shelley, who produced their first self titled album in 1993. Shortly afterwards Maki Takahashi left the band and the remaining band members continued as a trio. On their third album, Fake Can Be Just As Good, they were joined by Vern Rumsey of Unwound as a guest bassist. After this they continued without a bass player for the release of the remainder of their albums. On their fourth album, In an Expression of the Inexpressible, Guy Picciotto of Fugazi was hired as producer, as well as contributing to singing on the song “Futurism vs. Passeism Part 2”. Guy Picciotto has produced their latest two records as well, Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons and Misery is a Butterfly.

The band’s 7th album is called “23” and was released in April 2007.

Their 8th album, “Penny Sparkle” was released in September 14, 2010.

HIS LIFE

Miro Slovik was Born in Zlaté Moravce, Czechoslovakia, 13 April 1960.He studied Applied Photography at the Secondary School of Applied Arts (SUPŠ) at Bratislava from 1975 to 1979. When he finished he worked as photo-lab technician in the Služba,a manufacturing co-op for the physically handicapped at Bratislava until 1981.

In 1987 he took a degree at the FAMU Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts at Prague. Since 1988 he was a free-lance art photographer. That year he did national military service in the Film Unit of the Czechoslovak Armed Forces at Prague. Also he was the head of Creative Photography Studio at Academy of Fine Arts and Design (VŠVU) at Bratislava since 2009.


HIS WORK

Miro Svolik is the one artist who reinvents himself artistically every several years with each incarnation being as strong as the ones before them.

In this way he created whimsical and humorous low-level ariel photographs which were pre-flattened for the camera and had compositional elements drawn in with powder or painted with water.

In his next series he worked with acrobats in the landscape, often with parts of their bodies extending beyond the frame. Sometimes the shapes of hills or rivers in the landscape are interpreted as a fish, a bird or a person.

When it suits him, Svolik feels free to rip out the center of the print and throw it away-all is in service to his unique imagination.

He seems to see no division between reality and a dream state. His work makes you wonder, "Why is it I never thought of that?"

Portishead

Portishead are a band from Bristol, United Kingdom, named after a small coastal town twelve miles west of said musical hotbed, in North Somerset. They were initially known for their use of jazz samples and some hip-hop beats along with various synth sounds and the hauntingly beautiful vocals of singer Beth Gibbons. Their current sound drops the samples in favour of a harder, more abrasive edge, but retains Gibbons’ vocals.

The band was formed in 1991 (Then later split in 2005 reforming in 2008), by keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Geoff Barrow and singer Beth Gibbons. Barrow had previously worked with Massive Attack and Tricky whilst tape operator at Coach House Studios in Clifton. He was often referred to as “that bloke from Portishead” and so decided to name his new musical endeavour after his hometown.

Archive

Archive is a music-collective, originating from London, UK, but based in Paris, France for many years where they enjoy a much bigger following. They are signed to Warner Music France.

Archive was formed by Londoners Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths in 1994 and began as an electronica project. At the beginning, they mixed Bristol-style, Massive Attack, Portishead with rap. The first album of the band, Londinium released in 1996 (with Roya Arab and Rosko John as guest vocalists). The second album, Take my Head, (which the band hates) was released in 1999 (with a new guest vocalist Suzanne Wooder), it is much more melodic than Londinium. The first song of the album, You Make Me Feel, illustrates this change in the Archive’s music. After being dropped by their label and more changes in the lineup, the band seemed to hit its stride on the third album You All Look The Same To Me (2002), featuring singer Craig Walker (formerly of Power of Dreams), which took a decided turn toward more progressive music (with some Progressive Rock influences, notably Pink Floyd whose indelible influence is audible on tracks such as ‘Finding it so Hard’ and ‘Again’), while still maintaining electronic elements. The band saw growing popularity and critical acclaim, especially in France, Greece, Germany and Poland. After recording two more artistically -but not too commercially- successful albums, Michel Vaillant (2003) and Noise (2004), Walker left the band for reasons the band and he will not talk about. The project continued on as a Collective, with new vocalists, Pollard Berrier and Dave Peny. In May 2006 they released the album Lights with Pollard Berrier on lead vocals, who is also a member/guest member of the innovative group, “Bauchklang” - a completely vocal beat-box (Vocal Groove) group based in Vienna, Austria. Archive released a live album, entitled,Live at Paris Zenith, in May, 2007 - which was recorded on January 20th, 2007 at the sold out Zentih Arena in Paris. Rolling Stone called it, “The best live album ever made.” Archive continues to tour and is working on a number of forthcoming releases in the near future.

Archive are not a trip-hop band as many people think, though this reputation was merited understandably by the soundcapes of their first release, Londinium, which is a trip-hop album.

Archive are a Collective, not a band.

Η Lollipop Productions παρουσιάζει για πρώτη φορά στη Θεσσαλονίκη τον εκπληκτικό DJ Frenic!!!

Η Lollipop Productions είναι μια νέα ομάδα ανθρώπων με στόχο να παρουσιάζει συγκροτήματα και DJs είτε από την Ελλάδα, είτε από το εξωτερικό, με μοναδ...ικό κριτήριο τη μουσική. Χωρίς πολλά λόγια, παρά μόνο αφήνοντας τους ίδιους τους καλλιτέχνες να εκφράζονται στη σκηνή, θα προσπαθήσει να σας προσφέρει τις καλύτερες συναυλίες και DJ sets.

Η αρχή γίνεται στο Art House gallery bar, το Σάββατο 4 Φεβρουαρίου με τον Βρετανό DJ Frenic. Τα λόγια είναι περιττά, μιας και έχει βρεθεί στην ίδια σκηνή με ονόματα όπως οι The Pharcyde, The Beatnuts, Task Force & Afrika Bambaataa.

O ίδιος ξεκίνησε επηρεαζόμενος από τους Wu-Tang Clan, DJ Premier και Pete Rock αγοράζοντας σε μικρή ηλικία το πρώτο ζευγάρι Turntables, και κάπως έτσι ξεκίνησε το ταξίδι του στη δημιουργία των Beats και του Scratching…

Εδώ και 16 χρόνια έχει καταφέρει να θεωρείτε πλέον ένας από τους καλύτερους Party DJ’s της Μ. Βρετανίας, συμμετέχοντας σε μεγάλα φεστιβάλ και φυσικά στα ξέφρενα parties της F1 Grand Prix και του Moto G.P.

Η μουσική του είναι ένα μίγμα Hip-Hop//Breaks//DnB//DubStep//Funk//Soul//Rock!!!

In place of a hermeneutics we need an erotics of art.` -Susan Sontag, `Against Interpretation` Στα πλαίσια της σειράς εικαστικών εγκαταστάσεων της Σοφίας Τούμπουρα υπό το γενικό τίτλο Unmonumental, οι εικαστικοί Σοφία Τούμπουρα και Παναγιώτης Σαμσαρέλος παρουσιάζουν την 5η συνέχεια και τη 2η κατά σειρά συνεργασία τους στο ΔΥΝΑΜΟ project-space. Ετερόκλητα αντικείμενα, συνθετικά βιομηχανικά προϊόντα και απόβλητα, readymades αλλά και φυσικά ανεπεξέργαστα υλικά, μαζί με έντονα ή απαλά, ωμά ή δουλεμένα χρώματα, ήχοι, αφήνονται να φέρουν με προφανή τρόπο το ιστορικό, συμβολικό και συναισθηματικό τους φορτίο, σε ένα παιχνίδι αντιθέσεων και συμφιλιώσεων όπου η σύνθεση διατηρείται σε ένα επίπεδο δυναμικής, οριακής ισορροπίας. Στην έκθεση παρουσιάζονται ασπρόμαυρες ανθρωποκεντρικές φωτογραφίες, αποτυπώματα στιγμών της πόλης.

Η Nana Slimba γεννήθηκε στην Έδεσσα. Μεγάλωσε στη Θεσσαλονίκη, όπου και ζει μόνιμα. Ασχολείται με τη φωτογραφία εδώ και πολλά χρόνια. Είναι η δημιουργός του Photothessaloniki-Φωτογραφική Λέσχη Θεσσαλονίκης. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις. Αυτή είναι η πρώτη της ατομική έκθεση.

Για τον Δημήτρη Κοντό η δημιουργία της τέχνης ήταν συγχρόνως μια πολύ σοβαρή υπόθεση και ένα παιχνίδι. Ήταν κατάθεση ζωής και τρόπος έκφρασης, ήταν βίωμα και στοχασμός, παρατήρηση και έρευνα, πειραματισμός και διασκέδαση.
Ο Κοντός αντιμετώπισε τη διαδρομή του στην τέχνη σα μια συναρπαστική και ατέρμονη περιπέτεια στα όρια του βιωμένου χρόνου και της σιωπής, της αίσθησης και της ψευδαίσθησης, της πραγματικότητας και της αμφισημίας.

Τέχνη και Ζωή αποτελούσαν γι’ αυτόν τα δύο σκέλη της ίδιας εξίσωσης, μια μετοχή σε δύο επίπεδα, μια αμφίδρομη σχέση βίωσης και έκφρασης, αντικειμενικότητας και ευαισθησίας.

‘’Η καλλιτεχνική έκφραση είναι απαύγασμα της γνώσης του εαυτού μας’’, είχε δηλώσει κάποτε ο καλλιτέχνης, επισημαίνοντας με τον πιο άμεσο και κατηγορηματικό τρόπο, όχι μόνο τη σημασία που είχε γι’ αυτόν η πραγματικότητα της ζωής ως γενεσιουργός παράγοντας της τέχνης, αλλά και τη σημασία που είχε η τέχνη ως μέσο αποκρυπτογράφησης του εγώ, αναζητώντας έξω και μάσα του τις υπόγειες διασυνδέσεις ανάμεσα στη λειτουργία του εξωτερικού κόσμου και τους εσωτερικούς λαβυρίνθους της ψυχικής ενδοχώρας.

Να γιατί δεν μπορεί να τραβήξει κανείς μια διαχωριστική γραμμή ανάμεσα σε όσα έζησε και σε όσα δημιούργησε ο Δημήτρης Κοντός. Για να επιτευχθεί η κατανόηση του έργου του, είναι απαραίτητο να συνυπολογιστεί το σύνολο της προσφοράς του, ως πράξη, ως σκέψη και ως βίωμα. Να συνυπολογιστούν οι σταθμοί της δημιουργικής πορείας του, αλλά και οι χρόνοι της απραξίας και της ηθελημένης σιωπής του.

ΕΓΚΑΙΝΙΑ
Η έκθεση εγκαινιάζεται την ΤΕΤΑΡΤΗ 18.01.2012, ώρα 17.00 στο ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΙΚΟ ΜΟΥΣΕΙΟ ΣΥΓΧΡΟΝΗΣ ΤΕΧΝΗΣ στο πλαίσιο του εορτασμού των εκατό χρόνων από την απελευθέρωση της πόλης.

Στις 19.30 θα πραγματοποιηθούν στο Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης
"Εξωτερικές Σχέσεις. Νέοι Αρχιτέκτονες από τη Γερμανία",
μια έκθεση του Ινστιτούτου Εξωτερικών Σχέσεων της Γερμανίας η οποία διοργανώνεται στο πλαίσιο του παράλληλου προγράμματος της 1ης Μπιενάλε Αρχιτεκτονικής Θεσσαλονίκης σε συνεργασία με το Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki.
Την έκθεση θα προλογίσει ο εντεταλμένος της ifa, κ. Thomas Kaufhold.

ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ: 18.01 -26.02.2012

Το Τμήμα Αρχιτεκτόνων του Αριστοτέλειου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης και το Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης σε συνεργασία με το Goethe-Institut, σε συνεργασία με την Κίνηση των 5 Μουσείων, διοργανώνουν στη Θεσσαλονίκη την 1η Μπιενάλε Αρχιτεκτονικής Θεσσαλονίκης, με θέμα "Αρχιτεκτονική και Πόλη στη Νοτιοανατολική Ευρώπη". Το μεγάλο αυτό πολιτιστικό γεγονός τίθεται υπό την αιγίδα του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης.

Στην έκθεση θα συμμετέχουν 25 αρχιτεκτονικές σχολές από 19 πόλεις της Νοτιοανατολικής Ευρώπης: Κωνσταντινούπολη, Προύσα, Σαράγιεβο, Λιουμπλιάνα, Τίρανα, Σόφια, Μπολόνια, Βενετία, Μπάρι, Βελιγράδι, Σκόπια, Βουκουρέστι, Λευκωσία, Αθήνα, Βόλος, Πάτρα, Χανιά, Ξάνθη, και φυσικά Θεσσαλονίκη.

Η έκθεση έχει ως στόχο τη συζήτηση για τον ρόλο των αρχιτεκτονικών σχολών στα ζητήματα αρχιτεκτονικής και πόλης και ιδιαίτερα σε θέματα του δημόσιου και του κοινωνικού χώρου, της πολιτισμικής διαφοράς, των πολιτικών της μετακίνησης και του περιβάλλοντος όπως αυτά εκδηλώνονται στις μητροπόλεις της Νοτιοανατολικής Ευρώπης.

Η 1η Μπιενάλε Αρχιτεκτονικής Θεσσαλονίκης εγκαινιάζεται το 2012, επετειακό έτος για την πόλη και παράλληλα εντάσσεται στις εκδηλώσεις του ΥΠΠΟΤ: "Θεσσαλονίκη 2012 Νοτιοανατολική Ευρώπη, Σταυροδρόμι Πολιτισμών".

Η έκθεση θα ανοίξει με ένα τριήμερο παρουσιάσεων και εκδηλώσεων, που θα ξεκινήσει με μια ανοιχτή συζήτηση, την Τετάρτη 18 Ιανουαρίου στις 09:30 π.μ. στο Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης. Μετά τη συζήτηση θα ακολουθήσουν οι πρώτες παρουσιάσεις από τους συμμετέχοντες.

Τα επίσημα εγκαίνια θα πραγματοποιηθούν το απόγευμα της Τετάρτης 18 Ιανουαρίου στις 17:00, στο Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης.
Θα ακολουθήσει η κεντρική ομιλία του αρχιτέκτονα Ηλία Ζέγγελη, με θέμα "Αστικές Παρεμβάσεις: Από το Δημόσιο στον Κοινό Χώρο".

Στη συνέχεια και ώρα 19.30, θα γίνουν τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης "Εξωτερικές Σχέσεις. Νέοι Αρχιτέκτονες από τη Γερμανία", στο Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης, μια παραγωγή του Ινστιτούτου Εξωτερικών Πολιτιστικών Σχέσεων (IFA) και του Ομοσπονδιακού Επιμελητηρίου Αρχιτεκτόνων (BAK), που εντάσσεται στο πρόγραμμα παράλληλων εκδηλώσεων.

Οι παρουσιάσεις των 25 συμμετοχών, θα συνεχιστούν και τις δυο επόμενες ημέρες (19 και 20 Ιανουαρίου) και το τριήμερο θα ολοκληρωθεί το βράδυ της Παρασκευής 20 Ιανουαρίου στις 20:00, στη Μονή Λαζαριστών, όπου το Κρατικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης θα πραγματοποιήσει τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης του με τίτλο "Σύνθεση-Κατασκευή-Παραγωγή. Ρωσική Πρωτοπορία και Σύγχρονη Τέχνη".

Dub Pistols are a London dub music band, founded by ex-club promoter Barry Ashworth in 1996. The other members of the band are record producer Lee Spencer, guitarist John King, bassist Jason O'Bryan, programmer Bill Borez and turntablist Malcolm Wax.

Dub Pistols use a mix of Big-Beat Techno crossed with a Punk-Rock attitude. The Dub Pistols were formed in late 1996, their debut album 'Point Blank' was released in '98 after they were signed to Concrete Records. The follow up album 'Six Million ways to Live' was released during 2003 and showed a change in the groups musical direction.

Dub Incorporation is a French Reggae band which was founded in 1997. They sing their songs in French and partially in Arabic. The band comes from St. Etienne/France. There they started their career, but in the meantime they are further sucessfull in, for example, Germany.
Dub Incorporation has published 5 disks: Their first disk (Dub incorporation 1,1) was published in April 2000, the second (Version 1.2) followed in June 2001. Their two most sucessfull and most popular disks are Diversité (September 2003) and Dans le Décor (August 2005). On October, 24th 2006 they published their first live-disk.

Thievery Corporation is a Washington, D.C.-based recording artist and DJ duo consisting of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton and their supporting artists. Their music style mixes elements of dub, acid jazz, indian classical and brazilian (such as bossa novva) with a lounge aesthetic.

Formed in the summer of 1995 at D.C.’s Eighteenth Street Lounge. Rob Garza and Lounge co-owner Eric Hilton bonded over club life, dub, bossa nova an jazz records, then decided to see what would come of mixing all these in a recording studio. From this, the duo was born and their self started label Eighteenth Street Lounge Music began to emerge on an international level.

Woven Hand

Woven Hand is the personal project of David Eugene Edwards, former frontman of 16 Horsepower, featuring a revolving cast of collaborators from Denver, Colorado, United States.
The band began in 2001 as a solo project for Edwards while his primary group, 16 Horsepower, were taking a temporary hiatus. The band’s first live shows were performed by Edwards and multi-instrumentalist Daniel McMahon; the debut, self-titled Woven Hand album was released in 2002 on Glitterhouse Records. Performances following this record were executed by Edwards, McMahon, drummer Ordy Garrison and cellist Paul Fonfara.

   Robert Doisneau, one of France's most popular and prolific reportage photographers, was known for his modest, playful, and ironic images of amusing juxtapositions, mingling social classes, and eccentrics in contemporary Paris streets and cafes. Influenced by the work of Andre Kertesz, Eugene Atget και Henri-Cartier Bresson, in over twenty books Doisneau presented a charming vision of human frailty and life as a series of quiet, incongruous moments.His camera sought the surreal in everyday life; the faibles of human nature, all captured by an artist who was charmed by his subjects.

   Robert Doisneau was born in Gentilly, France. He studied lithography, but soon turned to photography. He worked for Renault as an industrial and advertising photographer until 1939. During the war he worked for the resistance forging documents. In 1948, he began work for French Vogue as a fashion photographer, but his heart was in photojournalism, and the streets of Paris, to which he returned in 1951.

  The French Kiss.

 In 1950 he created his most recognizable work for Life - Le baiser de l'hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville), a photo of a couple kissing in the busy streets of Paris, which became an internationally recognised symbol of young love in Paris. The identity of the couple remained a mystery until 1992.

   His photographs have become widely recognized and beloved in the history of photography.
